Beginners are always welcome to join any time of the year! You may also come and watch a practice to see what naginata is!

Whether you’re starting from scratch or an AJNF champion, we are excited to have you practice with Team Cambridge.

The Cambridge Naginata Club was founded in 2016 by two Columbia University graduates starting their PhD programs in the Boston area, so that they could continue their naginata training. Soon after, more local naginata practitioners heard about the “Boston location” and joined the weekly training.

Since then, the Cambridge Naginata Club has been serving the greater Boston community by providing access to the martial art of atarashii naginata.

Getting Started

First, please get in touch through the contact form below if you’re in the area and would like to observe or join a class.

Newcomers or beginners can start out borrowing our equipment (naginata and specific parts of the armor/bogu). As individuals progress, they tend to purchase their own set of equipment. We facilitate this through our decades-long vendor relationships to ensure we get the best possible equipment and fit.

Interested in becoming a member?

Dues

Your choice of $20/class or $65/month. Dues are due by the first Monday of each month.

Participants must be fully vaccinated but masking is optional. Please bring a water bottle, although all facilities have water fountains.

Health policy

The Cambridge Naginata Club is officially affiliated with the Greater New York Naginata Federation (GNYNF) and with the United States Naginata Federation (USNF). Members are expected to comply with the rules set forth by these two organizations.
