Our goal is for others to enjoy the Japanese martial art of naginata through practice and support of the federation. GNYNF is a regional affiliate of the USNF (United States Naginata Federation).

The Greater New York Naginata Federation (GNYNF) is a not-for-profit organization founded on January 31, 2006 by Sachiko Yamauchi-Prough, Sensei (Kyoshi) and John Prough (3-dan), as a way to provide education in the Japanese martial art of Naginata to the public. This includes providing support for start-up naginata study groups and pop-up dojos that do not have local access to a high-ranking sensei, through virtual education and other resources. We also collaborate with other martial arts dojos, cultural organizations, as well as other not-for-profit organizations in various events ranging from joint workshops to public demonstrations.
